May I fence
my property?
No! Fences are strictly prohibited but if you feel
the need for security around your Lodge against
visits from potentially dangerous animals, a 2-strand
electric deterrent can be installed at your expense.
This will deter any animal larger than a springbuck
from coming close to your Lodge.
How many times may I visit
my Lodge?
If you own your Lodge outright, you may use it 365
days a year, 52 week-ends of your choice. It is
your freehold property.
Do I pay rates and electricity?
Being a freehold property, you will pay rates and
electricity usage to the Swellendam Municipality.
What about levies?
The Sanbona Home Owners' Association sets the monthly
levy which will be R1 500 per month for the first
year, escalating at 5% p.a. thereafter.
May I rent out my Lodge?
Yes, provided the decor and fittings equal the high
standard set by Sanbona and the Mantis Collection,
we will rent out your Lodge on your behalf at a
rate determined by the Home Own ers" Association.
Sanbona will charge a fee for this service, which
will include preparing the Lodge and cleaning up
after the guests have departed.
What about servicing of my
4x4 vehicle?
There is a fully-equipped workshop with trained
mechanics on the reserve to service and repair our
own vehicles. They will be available to provide
a service to private vehicles as well.
Who will clean my rim-flow
swimmingpool?
Sanbona personnel are available at a modest fee.
May I go walking around the
Reserve at will?
For your own safety, only with an armed, trained
game-ranger who will know what to do if you encounter
lions, rhino, buffalo, hippo out of the water, elephants,
etc. You can book a game-ranger in advance for a
walking outing.
What about poisonous snakes?
There are no more poisonous snakes at Sanbona than
in the rest of South Africa but it is wise to take
the necessary precautions.
Is Sanbona "child-friendly?"
Children will enjoy the rim-flow swimmingpools and
the spaciousness of the Lodges. Bearing in mind
the above point about snakes, there is no reason
why they shouldn't enjoy the run of the immediate
surroundings of your Lodge during daylight hours.
May I establish a garden
around my Lodge?
By all means, provided you do not introduce non-indigenous
plant species. Our horticulturalist can advise you
on what plants are allowed and which will flourish
the best.!
